CED 599 Week 3

I remember being 8 years old and knowing I would get a Master's degree. Both of my parents have them and I knew I would too. I thought I would have it by the time I was 25, but a divorce put everything on hold. Much of my aspirations in life have focused on this. I can't believe it's over.

Now I have an opportunity to move forward, using what I've learned to help my district and myself. What new goal should I have? I haven't figured that out yet. It certainly won't be anything academic. I plan to learn how to knit and do more gardening. Oh ya, maybe I'll finally be able to catch up on my housework too.

Jenny,

As much as we emphasize planning with our students, it is interesting how so many plans get put on hold because of life. Life has a strange way of always interfering with what we thought we would do and by when we would do it. I also thought I would have finished my graduate work at a much earlier point in my life, but things kept preventing that from happening. Either way, it is nice to be at the precipice of completion. I haven't even contemplated what I will do next academically, but I do know that I am prepared to help others with what I have learned. I suspect that with the constant evolution of technology, what we know will be outdated within the year. WIth that said, we have the skills to keep building upon what we have learned in the program, and the obligation to share that knowledge with faculty to help prepare students for the future. :)

Are you sure you don't want any more academic goals??? I think Dr. Staples has a nice ring to it. I think it's awesome that you've been able to achieve a lifelong goal and to do it despite some setbacks along the way. I think that when we achieve something despite some hardships it helps us to appreciate it that much more. Whatever it is that you decide to do now that this is over with I wish you the best. You've been a pleasure to work with and alongside. As for your housework, just hire a maid, you deserve some time off to enjoy yourself.
