All I can say is WOW! I loved our first class! I've taked an on-line class before, but a virtual classroom wasn't involved and I feel that it really inhances the experiences. The back and forth chat is a different experience with me. I don't chat much.
I was relieved to see that the text focuses on learning first and technology second. This was also the first time that I had read the technology standards.

It was the first time that I had to read the technology standards as well. I am glad that you like the class so far. Everyone seems really nice and they are very helpful when I get stuck. Louie is also very helpful and more importantly is understand about the "flaws" that technology has to offer. We all get stuck sometimes. Good luck. Talk to you next week.
I agree with you, Jenny, on the "Wow!" factor of online learning. At first, I was enthused as well as extremely nervous about jumping into all this technology stuff. Pretty pathetic, considering I'm a tech teacher. But once we were in, everything flowed so well. It was amazing! I do miss, however, the lack of faces as we meet. I'm extremely visual, so having the ability to look at others to learn their faces is important to me.
As for the text, it's taking me a lot longer than I expected to reaquaint myself with textbook jargon. I'm having to read paragraphs several times to make sure I'm clear, but I agree with you that it's nice to see the teaching first and then the technology second. I also really like the wide variety of examples. The examples make everything else much clearer.
It was nice working with you this week! And welcome to the class. We've already learned so much and all of our imaginations with how we can use this knowledge in our classrooms are rolling. So, see you in our "Grpup" soon.
Gee - sorry slow in finding your blog. I'm glad the first week excited you. Hope as I read through the excitement stays.
